A Cade is a super short fiction story self contained from beginning to end in a 500 words maximum.  The reason why we decided to experiment with this type of content comes from two observations. The first one is that  we currently have only transcribed literary formats one to one to the phones, we basically read printed books on reading apps on our phones. The second one is that the interactions with our phones are mostly short, the time to check some Instagram stories, read news headlines, the weather, or write and read quick chat messages. Combining these two we wanted to see whether there is an opportunity to experiment with a literary format that’s (or wants to be) tailored to the phone and how people interact with it, and not the other way around.   From the writer prospective on the other hand, it takes the form of a challenge: As a writer do you think you can write a story in a 1000 words? A similar challenge was given in 1957 to the celebrated sci-fi writer Isaac Asimov, during a panel it was asked to write a story on the spot, and the result was a 350 words long mini story called Insert knob A, in hole B, which we are re printing here as our first Cade!   We don’t know whether this would “work” or not. It’s an experiment, so don’t take it too seriously, and have fun with it
